Here is an exclusive scoop on the next (and first) expansion for Formula D: the Sebring track in Florida and Chicago. This product should be available late January / early February.
Stretching over almost 6 kilometers, the Sebring track in Florida alternates between straight stretches, quick curves and slow and technical turns. Plotted over a former military training camp turned into an airfield, this track has been a staple in North-America since the 1930’s. Each year, the 12 hours of Sebring take place there: an endurance race, whose slightly uneven course gives pilots the chance to test the resilience of their vehicle in the hot and dry Florida weather.
The second track of this expansion offers street racing fans the chance to drive wildly in the streets of Chicago - in the East Park area, to be precise. This track offers an urban terrain which alternates between curves and straight lines. This mad race in the heart of city traffic will give pilots a chance to drive along the impressive Aon Center, one of the tallest skyscrapers of the city, to cross the Lake Shore East Park and its three tightly woven lanes (be careful about collisions!), and then rush along the inner port before finally crossing two vertigo-inducing bridges.

I’m a little surprised that the first new track isn’t one of the ones added to the F1 calendar since the release of Bahrain/Shanghai four years ago. I know the die-hards are clamoring for at least Turkey, if not Singapore and Valencia.
It’s nice to see that they’re making some new tracks available in a timely fashion. (and New new tracks too!)
I’ve managed to collect all 35 original Dé tracks, and so I’m looking forward to this immensely.
Hi there,
I’m following the french comments of this site. We are also surprised with these choice but it seems that a great part of the selling is for the USA and so, they wanted to map american races.
In Europe, it’s very hard to found oldest tracks and I’m wondering if you could check your local store for old tracks.
Could you tell me if there is some old race available near your place ? My mail is dfiquet at hotmail dot com.
Thanks,
Didier
Sorry for my english.
During the Masters in Paris (Lieusaint) I heard (from Eric Randel himself) that the next circuit will be Sebring and Chicago, but after that: Valencia and another street circuit (cant remember the name). Probably somewhere mid 2009 (depnding on the succes of the new Formula D I guess)’
And yes: all part of the US selling stategy but the new F1’s will follow.
Awesome, I got the new Formula D the other day and can’t wait for new tracks.
Sweet! I have been wanting the original tracks, but have not gotten any yet [too expensive on ebay!]
I don´t like the idea of puting a Formula track and a Street racing one in the same expansion, and I hope this will not be the usual. I have almost all the old tracks and I wish to get some more, but I don´t like the new street racing and I´m not interested at all in these tracks. I would buy any 2 Formula tracks expansion, but I will never pay for just 1 formula track and 1 street racing track I don´t need.
We want Formula 1 tracks first !
Even if the Us market is a big one, most formula dé players want to do formula 1 championship.
We hope for Formula 1 tracks packs in futur.
Sebring is a famous track, but there are no cars for use with it.
Sweet!
I just got a hold of Formula Dé a few weeks back. I don’t care what courses they replicate. As long as I can race my Formula Dé cars around them, I’m happy!
I also have every track published under Formula De and have been a huge fan of the game. I bought the new Formula D when it came out and I really do not mind the Street Racing part of the game.
I have raced the Street Track with formula 1 cars and actually found it to be quite fun. Just because it is setup for Street Racing does not mean that you only get 1 Formula 1 track with each game board. Just do not play Street Racing and use the track anyway. It makes for a nice change. I really like where the track narrows down to 2 lanes after screaming by the police station.
Keep the tracks coming as I will buy them all as soon as they hit the shelves of my local store.
Completely agree with Ray, all tracks are usable with either set of rules. We have raced Formula 1 on the street track, and street raced on the old circuits.
It is not hard adapt either way, for example use the darker tunnel portion of the Asmodee Monaco circuit as the pot-shot neighborhood for street race rules, or the pit row from the Ludodélire Monaco circuit under the “Shortcut” rules. In either edition. For either version of Monaco, the sixth curve (a 1-stop) would make a good police station like check point.
Furthermore having each expansion be one formula circuit, and one street track keeps things interesting for both types of fans, which is better for both the game and the company.
I haven’t played the game a lot, yet. But I do like the idea of racing the F1 cars on the street tracks! Why not, it’s just a circuit?
I really like the Race City street course that came with Formula D. We had a fantastic race with four cars on this course last time we played. I will say it is one of the better courses I have raced with formula cars, based on the layout, stops in turns and length of straights. We played the formula race with the pothole section of the course included. The course gave us plenty of places were we had to make decisions. We had a tense race with many lead changes and one dnf. We will definitely race this course again. Hopefully Sebring and Chicago will be just as good. Can`t wait.
Thank You
I picked up the new Formula D over the X’mas holidays (I always wanted to purchase this game but it was out of print at the time). My friends and I had a great time playing the street car version of Formula D, as well as, playing the Formula 1. We’re looking forward to different street car tracks as well as formula 1 tracks.
Whether Formula D is targeted to the U.S. or Timbuktu is irrelevant. As long as the game is being sold again and getting support is the most important thing. As for most Formula De players wanting to just play formula 1, that’s a big generalization. With the new street racing option, a whole new group of fans will hopefully emerge to keep this great boardgame alive. If you so wish, you could even create your own driving personalities with the street racing option.
By printing an F1 track and a street track in an expansion is a wise business decision on the manufacturers part and looks at targeting a broader audience. Hopefully, they may be able to pull off a “mini” Dakar Rally style track with off-road rules. “Personally,” I don’t mind if the tracks aren’t based on real tracks, as long as they’re fun to play. That’s what gaming is about.
Looking forward to more!
I would love to see an alternate ruleset for Dakar/WRC rally racing and maps to match. I’d also love a tool that would allow for custom map creation as there are some wonderful roads that could be made into interesting maps.
Just got the new tracks. Im a old school fan so arent to precious about the Chicago circuit although I’ll give a go some time. Like the Sebring track though, Very nicely realised. Some random thoughts
I’d like to see are some more real circuits. To keep everyone happy maybe we could have Singapore night circuit with night rules for the street race fans and maybe Le Mans on the flip?
Would also love to see some old classics like Brands Hatch, Paul Ricard, Mexico and Rheims. Another great idea would be for a full Nurburgring circuit maybe with some 1960’s racers and rules for extended tracks.
Please understand that the major part of your real and faithful fans live in Europe and want original F1-tracks. Im a real fan and i dont want any “shortcuts” or crazy circuits, I knew you were going to try to earn as much money as possible instead of making the circuits the fans playing want you to make. You just want to earn money in the US and dont care a shit about the people in Europe. And Im espacially struck bacause I wasnt able to buy all the expansions to Formula Dé. I really ask you to take me and people in the same situation in consideration. //Sweden
It may come as a shock, but did you know there is an entire racing world outside Europe? Whole other racetracks (and countries) where F1 will never race. Hard to comprehend but it’s true!
If you want the old FDe stuff go to Ebay, plenty of people are selling the old expansions.
I just want them not to forget Descartes idea with the game, Im open to new versions of the game but for me and many others (NOT EVERYBODY) are the Formula 1 circuits the most interesting.
Most of the circuits are hard to find and those you can get at ebay are way too exspensive and most of the people who sell the exspansions live in the US and countries far away from Sweden which includes extra cost. // Sweden
I sympathise with Morgan but as my post on the Sebring expansion alludes to I guess its all to do with making the game financially profitable. It does seem odd that we have so many US tracks now (last count 12 of 37 official ones) but the States no doubt makes up a sizable part of the market. Considering how many circuits there are out there begging to be released I hope that we’ll soon see some “real F1 circuits” old and new
I hope they make California tracks. Long Beach and San Jose
My wish list would be (in order)
Brands Hatch GB
Mexico City MEX
Paul Ricard FRA
Istanbul TUR
FULL old banked curve Monza IT
FULL old Nurburgring GER
Rheims FRA
FULL old Spa BEL
Fuji Jap
Adelaide AUS
Jarama SPA
Zolder BEL
Mosport Park CAN
I agree with the ‘Hardcore-F1-Fans’.
Those ‘fast&furious’ tracks are a waste of money & space. F&F are movies of fast-paced action and you can’t emulate that in a strategic board game that lasts 2-4 hours.
Also get the old artists back to work who designed the FDe game boards. it’s really nice to look for all the tiny details on those game boards. The new ‘computerized’ design is simply roads, coloured cars, stands and product placement.

Asmodee is holding a design contest for the third Formula D expansion that will be released in November 2009. As with the recently announced Hockenheim/Valencia expansion that’s due out in July 2009, each Formula D expansion includes a professional racing circuit as well as a street racing circuit. One half of the third expansion has been locked in – the new F1 circuit in Singapore – but the street racing half will be determined by entries in a design competition. To enter, you must submit:
* The layout of your circuit, which must fit onto a 65cm x 98cm gameboard.
* Any special rules needed for your circuit; rules must be in English with a maximum length of 3,000 characters, including spaces.
Designs may be submitted from all parts of the world with an entry deadline of August 31, 2009. Eric Randall and Laurent Lavaur, co-designers of Formula D, will be part of the jury that determines the winner. Submit your entry by email to asmodee@asmodee.com with “Concours circuit Formula D” as the subject or mail it to the following address:

Автор, можно с вами познакомиться?
I got it, I got it!! it rules, i love there tracks, however, the street racing part with the “leap of death” kinda disapointed me, its kinda stupid…, but i still like it=], and the f1 track is perfect. Oh and, does anyone know anything abaut the second expansion?
expansion #2 is of Hockenheim and Valencia, 2 F1 circuits although Valencia qualifies as a strret too. Expansion #3 wqhich was promised for Nov 09 but as yet has not even seen light of day features Singapore F1 street circuit and a Fans designed effort.
