The store shelves have been shaking since the announcement for the first Formula D expansion was made that announced its release at the beginning of February. A good thing never comes alone, we will be running a competition where you will be able to win one of 10 copies of the Sebring / Chicago East Park Tracks.

In order to participate in this competition (US and Canada residents only), you will need to send us your answers to the questionnaire below. The winners will be chosen by the bonus question. Do not forget to include all of your information (last name, first name, addresses, e-mail) that will need to be emailed to contact@asmodee-us.com, and the subject line should read “Formula D Contest“. This contest will end on January the 19th.

These tracks look great…..I can’t wait to get them…….I’m trying to put together an English speaking forum for the game at

give me a hand if you’d like.
The email address doesn’t work. My mail server says “recipient unknown”.

E-mail addy doesn’t work
Matt: putting the answers here does nothing but help others find the right answer. And, as noted, the email addy is a no-go, even though it’s also up on the asmodee-us.com site.
I am also unable to send to that email address. Here’s the error I got:

I can’t submit either. I’ll check again tomorrow.

Yes, the email is working. And for what it’s worth, Matt is way off on the bonus question.
Did I win?
More importantly, did I win??
Haha, but seriously, whats the answer to the bonus question? And when will winners be announced?
The answer to the bonus question will be somewhere in the region of about 3500, I wager. I found the Asmodee HQ on Google Earth, measured it and divided by the size of an FD game board. Obviously, it isn’t going to be exact, but I got 3465.
Ah, but it depends on how do they define Expansion. Using the quote from the top of this page as a reference:
“Don’t forget also to take a look at the new tracks included in the Sebring/Chicago Expansion… ”
Then the game board would be considered the track and, I presume perhaps incorrectly, that the box would be the expansion.
Well, fair enough. If folded up in the new way as in the new FD game box, multiply the number by twelve - by eight if it’s done old-style. Either way, 500 is still shy of the mark by more than a bit.
But semantically, I think you’d be hard-pressed to come up with solid arguments for the box (or, if it’s anything like the old releases, the slip cover) being the product in question. That would be a bit like asking how much milk would fill a bath tub and then only measure it by dropping milk cartons in it.
That’s why the contest seems like a jelly-bean jar question - We don’t know the size of the beans or the size of the jar so you just pick a number between 1…n
Well, the size of the jar wasn’t really that difficult to work out (at least roughly) and the size of the beans can be assumed using fairly simple logic.
Wow who would have thought that a roof would drum up some controversy………..I can’t wait for the next bonus question.
So, who won?
I have heard nothing either way.
Stigsy hears off the Asmodee main site they’ve extended the contest until 2/2/09.
Oh, great. And now I’ve told everyone how to figure out the bonus question. That’s just plain bogus.
Today’s 2/3 (USA) who won?
Their main website says:
We would like to thank all those who entered the Formula D contest. It is now officially closed and the winners will be announced shortly.
Question 1- 12 H of Sebring
Question 2- 6
Question 3- US. Route 66
Bonus Question- 500 copies
Hello Everybody,
The Winners of the contest were just posted on our site…
Check it out.
And Congrats to all the winners…
Gabriela
I won! Yay me.
My bonus guess of 3465 was 310 copies off; a little less than 10%. Not as close as I thought I’d come.
The contener with the expansions just arrived today at our warehouse. They will be available on your favorite stores very soon now.
So what’s all this I hear about two recently announced expansions? What tracks will be selected? Tell us Asmoman!
We hope news formula one tracks.
For the next expansion how about a classic 1960’s quad set complete with 60’s F1 cars and featuring Rheims, and Brands Hatch with a full Nurburgring on the reverse of both boards? Extra rules for 60s racing and extended circuits perhaps (e.g endurance, car fragility etc).
Alternatively how about a right up to date Singapore night circuit and maybe Le Mans on the flip with optional night racing and driver switching/endurance rules?
I know a lot of die hard fans are also clambouring for Istanbul, I wonder if the FIA and “he who must be obeyed” Ecclestone might own the circuit images and therefore be the reason why we’re not seeing new F1 circuits being printed?
Please understand that the major part of your real and faithful fans live in Europe and want original F1-tracks. Im a real fan and i dont want any “shortcuts” or crazy circuits, I knew you were going to try to earn as much money as possible instead of making the circuits the fans playing want you to make. You just want to earn money in the US and dont care a shit about the people in Europe. And Im espacially struck bacause I wasnt able to buy all the expansions to Formula Dé. I really ask you to take me and people in the same situation in consideration.
Btw i believe the sebring circuit looks OK but the other one made my heart break
We must not lose sight of the fact that for Asmodee they need the project to be financially viable. Therefore catering/pandering to other markets has to be taken into consideration. If it means duff street circuits so be it. We can all vote with our wallets if we dont like them and not purchase them. Of course if the powers that be released a Paul Ricard and Anderstorp board, the fans of the original game would purchase it in their droves but the new(er) and dare I say it younger fans might think they look boring. So I guess doing one authentic circuit and 1 “fast and furious” one might be the best way to reach as many fans as possible and keep us all hooked that little bit longer. I have to say I love the look of the Sebring board and just hope that we get some more real circuits of the same quality real soon. There are so many permutations and options available to the publishers that it just might take a bit of time to get the boards the original fans really want. Maybe a poll vote might help to see how popular certain choices are or even a limited mail order only run of special boards might be worth considering? SB UK
Im 15 -.- im young and I still want the original F1 circuits
Just received my copy of the game & the Sebring expansion circuit. Haven’t played it yet, but after reading the rules and checking things out - look forward to it all!
Sebring looks excellent - I would have liked to have seen the original hairpin included though. But it’s my home track, so…..
I see expansion 2 names the new post 2001 Hockenheim circuit and Valencia so this not only gives us 2 current F1 tracks but also a street circuit to boot.
What are the odds I wonder on Singapore being in the next set………………?

Asmodee is holding a design contest for the third Formula D expansion that will be released in November 2009. As with the recently announced Hockenheim/Valencia expansion that’s due out in July 2009, each Formula D expansion includes a professional racing circuit as well as a street racing circuit. One half of the third expansion has been locked in – the new F1 circuit in Singapore – but the street racing half will be determined by entries in a design competition. To enter, you must submit:
* The layout of your circuit, which must fit onto a 65cm x 98cm gameboard.
* Any special rules needed for your circuit; rules must be in English with a maximum length of 3,000 characters, including spaces.
Designs may be submitted from all parts of the world with an entry deadline of August 31, 2009. Eric Randall and Laurent Lavaur, co-designers of Formula D, will be part of the jury that determines the winner. Submit your entry by email to asmodee@asmodee.com with “Concours circuit Formula D” as the subject or mail it to the following address:

I was right!!!!
Looking forward to this and I guess what the fans of street racing come up with
Further to my comment above, it is interesting though that the fans design circuit and Singapore could actually mean 2 street circuits given Singapores street layout. Ho hum

hi guys,
this is david from antwerp,belgium.
my question is : is the hockenheim-valencia circuit the last circuit that was released? coz i heard that the singapore circuit was about to come out with on the other side circuit designed by fans who sent in their ideas . and that circuit nr. 8 would be realeased in november 2009 did that come out yet ? cheers dave,
sorry, i meant circuits nr. 3 of course
Unfortunately, no…it has not yet been released. It’s late…
But, hey, hopefully it’s late because they are making the circuits *awesome*
And not because they are abandoning the line
Last I heard was it was due out in August (only 9 months late…………………..)
They released one of the expansions at Gen Con 2009, so maybe that will be the case this year. I will post as soon as I stop by the Asmodee booth on Saturday, August 7th. Hopefully they are smart enough to NOT cancel this game.
dont leave us hanging, bro… what happened at Gen Con? did they announce anything?
